【#Hong Kong Badminton Open 2019】Women’s Singles Highlight: 3-time Champion Tai Tzu-ying takes on Han Yue, the rising star

Tai Tzu-ying, the current world No.1, clinched the Women’s Singles’ title in 2014, 2016 and 2017. She stopped at top 4 and failed her mission of a 3rd consecutive championship due to injury last year. This Chinese Taipei player is coming back to regain her title and her first challenge will be the Chinese young player Han Yue who is only 19 years old and ranks 14th in the world. Han has captured a gold and a silver in Asian Junior Championship and World Junior Championship in 2017. The two has no previous encounter record.
The other Women’s Singles first round highlight match is between Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand and Singaporean Yeo Jia Min. 24-year-old Ratchanok Intanon is the youngest world championship winner with a current world ranking of No.5. Yeo Jia Min, the 20-year-old, despite her world ranking is only No.26, she was the youth world No.1 and a main force of Singapore. The two have played against each other twice, Ratchanok has a 2:0 lead.
Tickets of “YONEX-SUNRISE Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships 2019” is now for sale at URBTIX (www.urbtix.hk). Ticket prices are same as last year from $40 to $680. Concession tickets are available for students and senior citizens in some of the sessions. Get your tickets as soon as possible!
Entry tickets to qualifying rounds and round of 32 of Mixed Doubles on 12th November (Tuesday) is free for distribution. Interested parties can send self-address envelope with stamp $2 to HKBA office, four tickets are distributed for each person while tickets are available.
